The Age Discrimination Act of 1967 (29 U.S.C., Sections 621 et seq., as amended), makes it unlawful for an employer to discriminate against any individual between the ages of 40 and 70 because of age. Thus it is legal to seek as an employee someone who is "over 30," but not one "over 50," neither is it legal to express a baby boomers preference for someone who is "young" or is a "recent graduate," since the latter tend (on statistical grounds) to baby boomers be young.
